GOVERNOR AUSTIN ADDRESSES CLUB

President Perry Snell introduced our District Governor, Dr. Rose Austin as our guest speaker. Governor Austin is a charter member of the East Montgomery Rotary Club serving as President of the club and all avenues of service. Governor Austin has served on committees at the district level and is a member of the District 5910 Roll of Fame, member of Paul Harris Society, and recipient of the Four Avenues Service Award. Governor Austin has been married to her husband, Milton, for 39 years and enjoys antique collecting, gardening, traveling, and reading. Governor Austin told the club that we have some wonderful projects. She wants us to view the District 5910 newsletter regularly where you can get information on upcoming events and news from around the district. This is a new Rotary Year and we should be upbeat and we should take stock of our Rotary participation. Governor Austin talked about having passion in Rotary. Rotary is not just a local organization but an international one with 1.2 million Rotarians, 33,000 Rotary clubs and all working under one umbrella of "Service Above Self". When you build communities, you conduct meaningful service projects. We can also build communities through our vocations. We can bridge continents through our international service such as digging water wells and providing cleaner water to undeveloped countries. We are going to wipe the vicious disease called polio. We can contribute to the annual fund of the Rotary Foundation. Governor Austin told we need to catch the passion of Rotary. Our Club will donate $100 to the Rotary in Governor Austin's name.
